Introduction
NeuroGuard ("the App") is developed by Lucas Taverna. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use NeuroGuard on iPhone and Apple Watch. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your health data responsibly.
Local Storage
All health data, events, medications, and configuration settings are stored exclusively on your device (iPhone and Apple Watch). They are not transmitted to external servers or third parties unless you explicitly initiate a sharing action.
Data Collected
- Accelerometer and gyroscope data from Apple Watch (during active monitoring only)
- Heart rate via HealthKit (during active monitoring only)
- GPS location (only at the moment of an alert, if you authorized it)
- Medical information you voluntarily enter (name, condition, medication)
- Event and medication logs
How Your Data Is Used
Your data is used solely for:
- Detection of motor events compatible with epileptic seizures
- Generating alerts to your emergency contacts
- Historical event logging for your medical consultations
- Generating PDF reports to share with your neurologist
- Medication adherence tracking
Data Sharing
You have full control over when and with whom you share your data. The only data transmission occurs when you:
- Send an SMS alert to your emergency contacts
- Export and share a PDF report
- Export a CSV file of events
These actions always require your explicit initiation.
HealthKit
NeuroGuard accesses HealthKit data (heart rate) exclusively for real-time monitoring during active sessions. It does not read or modify other health data stored in HealthKit. Data read from HealthKit is not transmitted to any external server.
Apple Watch Data
Sensor data from Apple Watch is transmitted to iPhone via WatchConnectivity (local Bluetooth/WiFi) for processing. This communication is direct between your devices and does not pass through the internet.
Voice Assistant
When you use the AI voice assistant feature, your voice queries are sent to our secure backend server (api.neuralcore.dev) for processing. The server processes the query and returns a response. We do not store your voice queries or personal health data on our servers beyond what is necessary to process the request. No personally identifiable health records are transmitted with voice queries.
Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time by uninstalling the application. Data stored in the App Group will be deleted along with the application. Since all data is stored locally, no server-side deletion is necessary.
Third-Party Services
NeuroGuard uses the following third-party services:
- Apple HealthKit: For reading heart rate data during monitoring
- Apple WatchConnectivity: For communication between Watch and iPhone
- api.neuralcore.dev: Our secure backend for the AI voice assistant feature (Premium only)
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Children's Privacy
NeuroGuard is intended for users aged 12 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 12. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
